An Island’s Victory tells the story of the remarkable Haitian Revolution that took place at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries.
It includes profiles of the leaders of the revolt, Jean Jacques Dessalines (pictured here) and Toussaint L’Orverture, a timeline, illustrations, and a clear and informative narrative of the events of “The First Successful Slave Revolt” and its historical legacy.
